Things to do in Charminar & Old City

The Old City, south of the Musi river, is the Hyderabad the Qutb Shahis and Nizams built: Charminar at the centre, Mecca Masjid beside it, the bangle shops of Laad Bazaar, Chowmahalla Palace and the Salar Jung Museum. It is the setting for heritage walks, photo walks and food trails all year, and for the city's two great street seasons. During Ramzan the markets around Charminar stay open late into the night for shopping and haleem, and in the Ashada month the Bonalu processions end at the Lal Darwaza temple. Nehru Zoological Park is at Bahadurpura. Take the metro to MG Bus Station and an auto from there.
