The neighbourhoods east of Hussain Sagar, from Himayatnagar to Chikkadpally, are the Telugu literary and cinema heartland of Hyderabad. NTR Stadium, the open ground beside Indira Park, hosts the Hyderabad Book Fair, usually in December, along with trade exhibitions and public meetings. Sri Tyagaraya Gana Sabha in Chikkadpally has staged Carnatic concerts, harikatha and Telugu drama for decades, and Sundarayya Vignana Kendram holds book launches and film society screenings. RTC X Roads is the city's single-screen cinema junction, famous for first-day shows. On the second day after Diwali, the Yadav community's Sadar buffalo carnival fills the road outside the Narayanguda YMCA. The Green Line runs through the area.
