Things to do in Sainikpuri & Bolarum

The leafy colonies north-east of Secunderabad, from Sainikpuri and AS Rao Nagar to Bolarum, have a small but steady arts scene. Rangbhoomi Spaces runs a second performance space in Sainikpuri for plays and workshops, and cafés in the area host open mics and acoustic evenings. The main draw is Rashtrapati Nilayam in Bolarum, the President of India's southern retreat, a 90-acre estate built in 1860 that opened to the public in March 2023. Visitors can book tours of the building, gardens and restored stepwells from Tuesday to Sunday, and cultural evenings are held on weekends. Take a cab from Secunderabad East or Mettuguda metro stations.
