Things to do in Khairatabad

Khairatabad is the junction between central Hyderabad and the Hussain Sagar lakefront, and for ten days every year it is the most visited spot in the city. The Khairatabad Ganesh, installed here every Ganesh Chaturthi since 1954, is a towering clay idol of about 69 feet in recent years, and lakhs of devotees queue for darshan before it is taken to the lake for immersion. For the rest of the year the area's halls, including Visvesvaraya Bhavan at the Institution of Engineers, host technical seminars, book launches and cultural programmes. Khairatabad station on the Red Line is a short walk from the Ganesh pandal.
