Things to do in Abids & Basheerbagh

Abids and Basheerbagh are the old commercial centre of Hyderabad, a grid of jewellers, bookshops, cinemas and colleges. Lal Bahadur Shastri Stadium at Fateh Maidan, once the city's Test cricket ground, now hosts state sports meets, public rallies, football and large community events. Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan at King Koti stages classical music, dance and Telugu theatre, and Nizam College and its grounds take student festivals. St Joseph's Cathedral at Gunfoundry is the focus of Christmas midnight mass. Abids is also known for its Sunday second-hand book sellers along the pavements. Assembly and Gandhi Bhavan stations on the Red Line and Sultan Bazaar on the Green Line serve the area.
