About Rashtrapati Nilayam
Rashtrapati Nilayam in Bolarum is the President of India's official retreat in the south, a single-storey estate of about 90 acres built in 1860 as the Residency House of the British Resident at Secunderabad. It opened to the public in March 2023. Visitors can book slots between 10 am and 5 pm from Tuesday to Sunday through the Rashtrapati Bhavan visitor website. The tour covers the main building, a Knowledge Gallery on the presidency and on Hyderabad's history, a tunnel decorated with Cheriyal folk paintings, themed gardens including rock, herbal and maze gardens, three restored stepwells and a 120-foot replica of the estate's original flagpost. Cultural evenings called Kala Sandhya are held on Saturdays and Sundays from 5 to 7 pm.
