About Salar Jung Museum
The Salar Jung Museum, on the south bank of the Musi, holds one of the largest collections assembled by a single person: the art gathered by Mir Yousuf Ali Khan, Salar Jung III, a former prime minister of Hyderabad. It opened in 1951 and moved to its present building in 1968. Highlights include Benzoni's marble Veiled Rebecca, the musical clock whose figure strikes the hour, jade, miniature paintings, manuscripts and Bidriware. The museum also runs temporary exhibitions, lectures, children's workshops and special programmes. It is open from 10 am to 6 pm, with the ticket counter closing at 5:15 pm, and is closed on Fridays. Tickets are ₹50 for Indian adults and ₹20 for children.
