About People's Plaza, Necklace Road
People's Plaza is the open-air events plaza on Necklace Road, on the Khairatabad shore of Hussain Sagar. Its position on the lakefront, close to the Secretariat and NTR Marg, makes it a favourite for anything that needs a crowd and a backdrop. The NMDC Hyderabad Marathon starts here; in 2026 the full marathon set off at 4:35 am on 30 August and finished across the city at Gachibowli Stadium. The plaza also hosts handloom and handicraft exhibitions, food festivals, government melas, awareness runs and walkathons, music nights and festival celebrations. During the Ganesh immersion and on New Year's Eve the roads around it are closed to traffic, so check the police advisory on those days.
